Queen Maria, who had an English origin, spend a lot of her childhood in Egypt, where she took the Bahai religion – an unusual mixture of Christian and Islam elements. That is why lots of oriental, Thracian, Roman and Christian symbols that meet in the Palace, decorating the colonnades, the arcs, the fountains and the Venetian bridges. The palace astonishes with its remarkable architecture. After the queen died her heart was laid in the temple of the Palace. The little piece of Heaven that every tourist of Balchik should visit is the Botanic garden. It was created in 1955th on the territory of the park in the Palace. Today, collections of plant species from all over the world are situated on the area of 65 decares.
